History of the Riverbend Neighbourhood

Riverbend goes back some way into the history of Edmonton, with the area first being developed in the 1970’s. Today, Riverbend encompasses a list of other communities under its umbrella, including: Brander Gardens, Carter Crest, Henderson Estates, Ogilvie Ridge and Rhatigan Ridge. Riverbend is known for being its own distinct place, almost self-sufficient from the City outside, and is loved by residents because of the ‘small town’ feel the area provides.

Riverbend Homeowner’s Association (HOA)

Riverbend is home to the Riverbend Community League, rather than an HOA, which serves the communities of Brander Gardens, Brookside, Ramsay Heights and Rhatigan Heights. This League is very involved in its communities running programs, contests and facilities to serve its residents. They are always looking for volunteers and are big fans of community sporting events.

A key statement the RCL makes on their website is:

The Riverbend Community League (RCL) fosters and maintains a strong sense of community by serving the needs and interests of our residents. RCL responds to the changing needs of the people living and working in the community by providing and advocating for safe, affordable and accessible facilities, programs and services.”
