This is a great community that is actively working to make itself even better. The highly residential location makes it a safe place for kids to play, while also reducing the noise levels of neighbourhood traffic. The largely established area promises peace and quiet with plenty of safe places for kids to play and families to play together.
If you are interested in a community with a focus on families and working to constantly improve itself, then Terwillegar South is a great choice.
This community was originally planned back in 2003 and experienced a steady amount of growth and development up until, and beyond, 2009. This neighbourhood features a significant mixture of home styles, from single-family to multifamily and everything in between. In general, it is a higher-density residential area than most typical suburban neighbourhoods, but was designed this way to accommodate a variety of people in a variety of income brackets.
Great care has been taken to carve green space, parks and pathways that make accessing the neighbourhood’s location amenities more efficient. What this means is that residents can walk from one end to the other to access spots such as the Terwillegar Towne Centre, without the need for a vehicle. Other neighbourhoods, including Magrath and Mactaggart, border Terwillegar South making the whole area predominantly residential, which cuts back on traffic volume and noise for residents.
Rather than a Homeowner’s Association, Terwillegar South spearheads a Community League that is also responsible for the Magrath and Mactaggart communities. Playing a very active role, this League is focused on developing the area further for recreational purposes. Currently, they are working on a new park with a splash pad that will benefit all the communities.
Membership to this Community League is optional but gives residents the chance to make a difference in their community. This League provides great volunteer opportunities, community programs and fundraising efforts.
This prime Southwest location has given Terwillegar South great access to everything from shopping to golfing. The area is ripe with parks and recreation centres to keep the whole family busy year-round. Some of the closest amenities include the Terwillegar Recreation Centre, Big Bear Park, Currents Shopping Centre, River Ridge Golf & Country Club and the Ellerslie Rugby Park.
Also nearby are a variety of schools and churches, as well as major arteries for the city, the airport and even the John Walter Museum. Terwillegar South is right in the middle of everything Edmonton has to offer.
