History of The Hamptons Neighbourhood

The Hamptons community is located on the West side of the city within the larger development of The Grange, and features many developed areas. While planning of the community began as far back as the 1990’s, construction began in the early 2000’s and is still underway. Currently, there are two ponds surrounded by natural green space and three separate parks and school grounds under development within the community.

The Hamptons has big plans to expand in the coming years with several sections of land slated for multifamily residences and additional single-family lots. This community is bound on all sides by major arteries including Winterburne Road, Lessard Road and the Anthony Henday. Approximately three-quarters of the community consists of low-density residential housing, which means the resident enjoy a fair amount of space and privacy.

Homeowner’s Association (HOA)

The Hamptons has an active Homeowner’s Association. Homes within the Hamptons have an encumbrance registered against their title, obliging homeowner’s to pay the annual HOA dues – membership to an HOA is automatic and non-voluntary.

The Hamptons Homeowner’s Association sends residents a newsletter twice yearly to keep them up to date on current initiatives. The HOA feels that their efforts within the community will make it a better place to live, while also increasing property value over time.

Amenities Near The Hamptons

The Hamptons is central to some of Edmonton’s greatest attractions, including The Valley Zoo, which is undergoing major renovations, and West Edmonton Mall. The Victoria Golf Course and Driving Range is also close by, along with some half-dozen indoor arenas, including the Callingwood Arena and the Grand Trunk Arena.

There are many recreational centers in the area that offer swimming and fitness opportunities for the whole family – the Jasper Place Annex is one such venue. And potential residents will also benefit from the proximity to outlet centers that contain major retailers such as Walmart, Home Depot and a good selection of restaurants.

Another often overlooked plus to the West side of the city are the hotels. While the West Edmonton Mall provides the Fantasyland Hotel, there are many other reputable hotel chains in this area which make accommodating visiting family, especially over the holidays, much more convenient.

Why Live in The Hamptons?

Although this community may seem like it has been under construction for a while, there is a vast majority of it that is well-developed and settled. Residents here may easily find themselves in a win-win situation, where they get a home in a developed area that still has plans to grow, providing them ample opportunity to get a return on their investment. As the neighbourhood is completed and schools are built, The Hamptons should see a nice increase in property value – a value that will be added to by its active HOA.

This part of the City is great because it is a good distance from the downtown core but still on major roadways. This will make the commute easier, lessen the traffic congestion but not remove you from all the action. Between the amenities of 170th Street (an array of retail stores) and Mayfield Commons, residents will have no need to travel downtown.
